FAQIs Lens Lenders only in Canada?Yes. Lens Lenders is exclusively Canadian. Can you describe the service from start to finish?You send a request to reserve a lens for rental through our website or via e-mail. If a rental lens is available, we will e-mail a Paypal invoice to you. The e-mail invoice will link you to the secure Paypal website for payment. Your lens rental will be shipped inside a professional case using Canada Post to arrive on the first day of your lens rental period. At the end of the lens rental, you return the lens and all accessories to any Canada Post outlet using the pre-paid return shipping label included with your lens rental. Do you have a retail store? Can I pick up and drop off my rental lenses?No, Lens Lenders is exclusively an Internet company serving all of Canada. We cannot justify the costs of a retail store. Do you rent lenses for other camera brands, such as Olympus, Pentax or Sony?We plan to grow as our customer needs do. If there is a rental lens you would like us to carry, please make a suggestion. Do you have more rental lenses?We are continually adding to our inventory. If there is a rental lens you would like us to carry, please make a suggestion. Is a deposit required?No deposit is normally required. We use Paypal's security measures for identity and address verification. You are responsible for the rental lens while it is in your care, including damage, loss or theft. Do you sell insurance?No, we do not re-sell insurance. We recommend that customers contact their insurance agent or broker to ask about insurance coverage for rented property in their care. When will my credit card be charged?Your credit card will be charged when you pay your invoice through Paypal to reserve your rental lens. I live in a province far-away. Will I have to pay a lot for shipping?No. Shipping is free to anywhere in Canada. Do I need to pay sales tax on the lens rental?Yes. GST is applicable to all rentals. Ontario PST is applicable to customers in Ontario but as a courtesy, Lens Lenders will pay the Ontario PST for you. When will my rental lens arrive?Your rental lens will arrive by the first day of your lens rental period. When does my lens rental period begin and end?Normal weekly lens rental periods run for 7 days, Friday to Friday. Weekend lens rentals run for 3 days, Friday to Sunday. When do I need to return the rental lens?You have full use of the lens rental through to the end of the last day of your lens rental period. For a 7-day, Friday-to-Friday rental the rental lens should be returned on Saturday morning. For a 3-day, Friday-to-Sunday rental the rental lens should be retuned on Monday morning. What if the rental lens is damaged or lost during shipping?Lens Lenders has never had a rental lens damged during shipping. We ship our lenses inside professional, watertight containers so damage during shipping is very unlikely. We use the Canada Post website to track all shipments and require a signature upon delivery so we will know if a delivery problem occurs. In the unlikely event that you receive a lens damaged during shipping, please contact us immediately. You will not be responsible to pay for damages that occur during shipping. How do I return the rental lens?The rental lens will be delivered to you in a professional shipping container with a pre-paid, return shipping label. Simply put the rental lens back into the container with all accessories and take it to any Canada Post outlet with the return shipping label. Return shipping costs are pre-paid. Should I clean the rental lens before returning it?No. Please leave cleaning and maintenance of rental lenses to us. What if I am late returning the rental lens?If you know that you will be late returning the rental lens, please contact us. We track the shipping status of our lenses and may contact you if the lens is late being returned to Canada Post. Late returns will incur a late fee of $19 each day until returned. Lenses that are not returned to us after 10 days of their due date will be considered lost and the customer will be billed for the lens replacement costs. What if there is an accident and the rental lens is damaged? What if the rental lens is lost or stolen?If something should happen to the lens while in your care, please contact us. Customers are responsible for all loss and damages to the rental lens while in their care. Any needed repairs must be performed by us. Please do not bring the rental lens to a repair center yourself. Should a rental lens be lost or stolen while in your care, you will be responsible for the rental lens replacement costs. We recommend that customers contact their insurance agent or broker to ask about insurance coverage of rented property in their care.
